Biography of Victor Abeloos ( 1881 - 1965, Belgian )

Victor Abeloos ( Sint-Gillis , 25 December 1881 – Ixelles , 18 August 1965 ) was a Belgian painter of portraits, nudes, still life, animals, landscapes, seascapes, mythological scenes and social-issue subjects. He began his career as a student at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels under the direction of Isidore Verheyden and Alfred Cluysenaer.

He had solo exhibitions at the Galerie Royale ( 1922 ) and in the gallery Le Salonnet ( 1925 ), both in Brussels. A number of his works can be found in the Charlier Museum and the Museum of Ixelles in Brussels.

Together with the painter Emile Vauthier Abeloos from about 1930 had a workshop in the Godecharlestraat 16 in Ixelles. He came to live there permanently after his marriage in 1952 and died in 1965.
