Ramon Picot Soler

1924-1996, Spanish

Although the artist would paint landscapes and still lifes it is his paintings of young women for which he is best remembered.  These sensual images full of life and vitality, are worked in a post-Impressionist manner using a strong and vibrant palette.  In this example entitled ‘La Toilette’ we see him at his very best.

Ramon Picot Soler was born in the town of Figueras in 1924.  By his mid twenties he was already exhibiting widely in his native Spain to critical and public acclaim.  In 1962 he was invited, for the first time, to exhibit his work outside of his native country.  This exhibition, held in Miami would pave the way for many future exhibitions in places as far afield as Palm Beach, New York, Paris, Los Angeles and Vienna.  He was still actively painting and exhibiting successfully up to his death in 1996.
