Georges Lavergne was born in France to is Theodore Auguste Lavergneand Rachel Eudoxie Paz.
At the age of 28, he married Hélène Mosticzker, in Paris in 1891.
He died at his home in Paris at Villa Guibert in 1942, at the age of 79. Laverge was a notable pupil of Henri Levy, then Jules Lefebvre. He appeared at the Salon des Artists Français and won the Prix de Rome in 1892. He was also a knight and officer of the Legion of Honour
