Carl Schweninger, the Younger (1854-1903), an Austrian painter and sculptor, descended from a family of painters. His father was the landscape painter Carl Schweninger the Elder and his sister Rosa Schweninger focused on portraits and genre depictions. Schweninger junior was a pupil of his father and studied at the academies in Vienna and Munich.
His oeuvre is characterized by the zeitgeist: It shows mainly genre paintings with staffage in rococo outfits painted in interiors or in the landscape.
