Oliver Clare

A Birmingham painter of fruit and flowers; he was the son of George Clare and brother of Vincent Clare, who were master stil life artists in their own right. Olive Clare exhibited at the Royal Academy and the Society of British Artists at Suffolk Street. His paintings,, demonstrated considerable skill in capturing the textures of fruits, especially grapes, plums, peaches and gooseberries. Clare’s subjects are often set against mossy backgrounds producing a more informal composition than many of his contemporary artists.
