Claude Jousset was born in Paris, France. He studied at the School of Applied Arts in Paris. He won many awards in his lifetime including the Prix sue Conseil General de la Seine, the Prix Schaeffer, 1st prize of tthe French Landscape Artists, and the Landscape in Deauville, Trouville prize. Works by Jousset are in the City of Paris Museum collection.
